On April 22nd, the third day of the third lunar month, the Grand Ancestor Worship Ceremony of the Year of the Yellow Emperor was solemnly held at the Yellow Emperor’s Hometown Park in Xinzheng.

The ceremony, themed “Same Roots, Same Ancestors, Same Origin; Peace, Harmony, and Unity,” brought together Chinese people from around the world with solemn and sacred hearts, filled with gratitude and remembrance of their ancestors.

They gathered at the ancestral worship site to remember the legendary Yellow Emperor, the progenitor of Chinese civilization, and to pray for the great motherland.

“Yellow Emperor culture is an important cultural symbol of China. We must learn from Yellow Emperor culture, inheriting and learning from the more than five thousand years of splendid and profound Chinese civilization,” said Zhu Bingren, a master of Chinese arts and crafts and a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage of bronze carving.

A masterpiece by a master is bound to be a gem.

The Yellow Emperor’s Hometown Park renovation and expansion project was designed and completed by the team of Academician He Jingtang from South China University of Technology.

The new Yellow Emperor’s Hometown Park uses approximately 100,000 square meters of copper. Led by masters Zhu Bingren and Zhu Junmin, the Jinxing Copper Project

constructed the copper decorations for the main and supporting buildings within the park, including the Root-Seeking Gate, Xuanyuan Hall, Xuanyuan Pavilion, Surname Pavilion, Visitor Center, and VIP Building.

Root-Seeking Gate

As the main entrance to the entire Yellow Emperor’s Hometown Scenic Area, the Root-Seeking Gate is a place where thousands of families return to their ancestral roots.

Chinese people from all directions gather here to begin their journey of tracing their roots. The Root-Seeking Gate adopts the architectural style of ancient Chinese archways,

while not adhering to the solemn purple copper decorations of any particular dynasty, it exudes a timeless charm. With stone as its base and copper as its color, the copper tiles and rafters possess an elegant luster and profound artistic appeal.

Xuanyuan Hall

The Xuanyuan Hall, located at the northern end of the Ancestor Worship Square in the Yellow Emperor’s Hometown Park, faces south and is the core building of the entire park.

Above the hall is a bronze plaque inscribed with the three characters “Xuanyuan Hall” in bronze script. A statue of the Yellow Emperor, Xuanyuan, stands majestically in the center of the dome.

The dome is constructed of overlapping copper panels, seamlessly integrated with the exterior copper corbelled eaves, creating a spatial art of “round heaven and square earth.”

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The Xuanyuan Hall is unadorned, decorated only with stone and pure copper, making the building more ancient, dignified, and grand.

The treatment of the copper is ingenious; through unique techniques, each copper plate forms a unique texture and pattern, adding to the building’s color and depth.

Surname Culture Museum

Located on the west side of the Yellow Emperor’s Hometown Park, the museum is constructed entirely of bronze.

The waistline features rope-like patterns, symbolizing the evolution from ancient knotted rope record-keeping.

The bronze decorations employ modern techniques to interpret traditional forms, utilizing lightweight and high-strength bronze craftsmanship.

Xuanyuan Memorial Hall

The Xuanyuan Memorial Hall comprises three main exhibition halls. The exhibition design focuses on the Yellow Emperor and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,

showcasing the Yellow Emperor’s influence in five major areas and his contributions to the inheritance of Chinese civilization through a series of images.

This hall is also constructed entirely of bronze, featuring a unique dragon scale pattern, further enhancing its grandeur and solemnity.
